5.0 Improve your mix - instantly!
I got a pair of these 2 years ago after much research and discussion. I was worried about the expense. I plugged them in, adjusted the output according to my room design and started hearing things differently. Right away, people began to notice a dramatic change in my mixes - for the better.

These are fairly large and heavy. They connect via 1/4 inch cable and need to be positioned correctly for best response. Take the time to do this and you will be rewarded. Expect them to last for many years. Its an investment, not a quick fix.

Some people claim they over-accentuate the bass but I find them just right. Accurate and pleasing. Mackie claims these will not "fatigue" the listener. This is true. I use these for work and pleasure and by now have amassed countless hours of critical listening with many 16 hour sessions between the cones.

Monitors may be the most important thing in your signal path. If you're serious about your music, get these. You won't be disappointed.

Two words - Incredible speakers!
Far and away the best money I have spent on anything, ever!

I have three of them in my studio now, as the Left, Center, & Right channels in a 5.1 surround setup, along with the Mackie HRS-150 sub (which also [...]), plan to get two more for the rear channels as soon as I can.

If you are worried about the price, consider that for the money you not only get a great speaker, but also two power amps, a crossover, equalization, delay and limiter - All of which are fully optimized for the speaker, resulting in far better response than you would ever achieve with separate components (I've tried!)

While I do also have the Mackie sub, I can tell you that you'll be amazed by the prodigious low end that these make all by themselves. Don't be fooled by the 8" woofer, there is a large passive radiator hidden under the amp in back, which results in huge bass that you won't believe comes from this small of a package. They are flat down to 37Hz, which is way below many speakers three times their size, and the quality of the bass is extremely tight and punchy.

The overall response of the speakers is extremely accurate, and they will tremendously improve the quality of your mixes, by allowing you to actually hear what's on the recording, without adding any coloration of their own.

And finally, when it comes right down to it, they are just a hell of a lot of fun to listen to, and make for a great stereo as well!

Even if you don't have a studio, I would still tell you that these are a great investment. While your computer and other equipment depreciates and becomes more and more obsolete with each passing day, these will still be great sounding speakers many years from now!
