4.0  Earbuds for iPod
they work well and have been great since I bought them
1.0 A big disappointmernt
Griffin generally makes very high quality items for the iPod. This is not one of those items. On the plus side, they do stay in my ears much better than the Apple iPod earbuds. That is the ONLY plus side. They sound AWFUL! Volume and bass is indeed increased -- it turns all sounds into a loud, muddy mush. I threw them away after about ten minutes of painful testing. Now that they've dropped the price to practically nothing, that might be a clue about what they're worth. Just go buy a better pair of earbuds and don't waste your money on these.
5.0 Amazing on my Iaudio x5
I got these today after reading this thread. I'm using the stock earbuds that came with the X5 since I can't upgrade them "yet." Anyways, when using just the normal earbuds I can't stand to have any jet effects on and I have to keep the eq at normal. The distortion and bass are just horrible with the earbuds and ruins the music with anything on..
So I picked these up a few hours ago. I'm a small guy, only 5'5, 114pounds.. The med and large plugs won't even go into my ear, rofl. So I'm using the small ones which just fit perfectly, like they were made for my ear. Let me tell you, these things are damn amazing. They increase the volume big time. I normally use it around 35-40 but now I can use it find at 20-25 when I want too, ofcourse I love it loud so I'm still using 40. I'm gonna be deaf from these within a week...thats another story. Anyways I can't believe I'm using the stock earbuds, they sound so different, nothing like before. I wish I got these sooner. I know can use the rock eq on my x5 and turn all the effects as high as I want and it still sounds awesome. I love these things. :)
4.0 AMAZING!
I asked for these earbud attachments for my birthday. I haven't used them yet for working out, but just using them on my earbuds on my laptop - the difference is amazing!! I have really tiny "ear holes", so the smallest size fits a little snuggly, but I think that will be perfect for working out. I had looked for earbuds for kids thinking for smaller ear holes and head, but I don't think there are any. When I would sit at my laptop and listen with my earbuds, they'd fall out with me just turning my head to look around or take a sip of water.

I just played 50 cent "In Da Club" and Corey Hart's "Sunglasses at Night" and Dean Martin "Sway", and the bass and volume increase is DRAMATIC. The middle and higher range sounds get a little lost, but it doesn't make that big of a difference to me. I am _really_ having to turn the volume down. I am definately pleasantly surprized. A real bargain for actually being able to wear the earbuds without them falling out. Hoorah!!
3.0 be very careful if you try to remove from the Ear Buds
If you happen to need or want to remove the Ear Jams from the Ear Buds do so very carefully. You are at risk of opening the Ear Bud and making them unusable. It seems that I broke the wire connection in one of the Buds as the Ear Jam is so firmly in place that it caused the left Bud to open up when I tried to remove it. The outcome is that I'm currently looking for a replacement set of earphones. Whoops...
4.0 best alternative
It's great and cheap. It cancels noise and improofes the sound for a significant factor. It also fits other ear phones than the Apple ones.
1.0 BIGGEST waste of money! Makes your ipod sound HORRIBLE!
These ridiculously CHEAP piece of flimsy rubber get stuck in your ear canal when you try to take them off. They muffle the sound, so that it sounds like it has more BASS, but it is actually just MUFFLED. Warning! Save your money! RIP OFF!!!
1.0 Buy them if you enjoy pain.
"Disappointed" isn't a good word to describe my feelings about this purchase. I think a better term would be "tormented". If you look at these closely, you'll notice the serrated edges which attach to the ear buds. This is a grievous design flaw. These things hurt. I'm average-sized, with average-sized ears. After about ten minutes of wear, the serrated edges slowly begin sinking into the tender flesh of my ears. It doesn't matter how good the music is, I'm unable to ignore the pain.

Admittedly, there is a modest improvement in the sound quality (compared to the stock iPod headphones) when using these, but it doesn't justify the extreme discomfort they cause. Do yourself a favor and get actual earbud headphones. They'll fit (drastically) better, sound better, and the difference in comfort is the difference between a featherbed and a bed of (sparsely distributed) nails. If you've already purchased an iPod, you've spent a lot of money on a music listening device. Don't blow the listening experience by buying cheap serrated headphone covers that cause you pain.
4.0 comfort at last
At last I can listen to my iPod without my ears hurting after a few minutes from those diabolically shaped headphones!
The increased bass from the EarJam can be slightly overwhelming and annoying with the large earbud size, but is perfectly OK when using the smaller size (which fit me best anyway).
Very well thought-out product. They lose one star however for the slightly reduced treble sound quality.
5.0 Comfort didn't last! (an update to a previous review)
I recently purchased an iPod and my only complaint was with the earphones. After just a few minutes of use, I felt the same intense pain that I've felt wearing those cheap earphones that they give out on the airlines! Ouch!! At first these offered relief, but the edges that snap onto the original earphones began to rub my ear & feel uncomfortable. The bass is amplified a bit, but not unbearable. I tend to crank up the bass anyways so it works for me. These are probably worth the low price & the case is really cool & worth the price in itself, but I have since invested in the Ipod earbuds & have found them to be much more comfortable.
