Product Description

Providing Power for the Digital Revolution is the broadly defined mission of Harman Kardon. The popularity of computer-based, compressed-audio formats, such as MP3, has created the need to add a new and otherwise incompatible component to home entertainment systems: the PC. Harman Kardon's DAL 150 EzLink fills that need by providing a digital link that connects the USB port of a compatible PC to the coaxial digital input of a receiver or processor. EzLink can convert an MP3 file or bitstream to PCM format for playback on many audio products. Your receiver may then process the selection using one of the many available surround modes, such as Logic 7. When used with a Harman Kardon A/V receiver, EzLink may be set to simply pass the MP3 bitstream through to the receiver, for onboard MP3 decoding. At Harman Kardon, the future is now.

Reviews

4.0 Almost done....
It does not support Winamp only windows media player 7.1 :( If you lose the install cd you are SOL on getting drivers since they are not available from their website. Otherwise it is a functional product that works quite well and is easy to operate.
1.0 Attractive hockey puck
I had high hopes for this product since I was connecting to a Harman Kardon AVR receiver. I simply cannot get it to work!!! Absolutely dismal tech support, there is no indicator on the unit itself to confirm signal, unit comes with a 3' coax cable so if you are in the 98% of people whose computer doesn't share space with your home audio system, you're screwed. Tried a high-quality digital cable longer than the one supplied and it will not work. I am moving on and buying a Xitel setup. Harman Kardon I love your equipment, but how did this little device make it through R&D without getting squashed?
1.0 DONT GET IT! ONLY PLAYS IN MEDIA PLAYER!!!
I got this hoping to produce all my computer's audio through my stereo system. Games, Winamp, windows sounds, etc. THIS PRODUCT DOES NONE OF THIS. IT ONLY WORKS IN WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER and I feel I've been duped. I am irate.
5.0 Kick Out The Jams
The maximum word limit for this review is 1,000 words, however, I think that this product deserves something short and sweet...Because that is how easy it is to hook your computer to your home stereo system! All my music is organized according to genre, artist, etc. and I love the jukebox-like functions you achieve with the windows media player, but the boston acoustic junk that came with my computer can't handle the jams...buy this product and walla! Your makin' your neighbors crabby with the style and variety of your ecclectic taste in music pounding through your good 'ole home stereo!
2.0 Plenty of better options out there
These are going cheap these days and the main reason is that many computers now ship with built-in digital sound ports. If you have an older computer you can update the sound card to provide digital output pretty easily. The benefit of these other options is that *all* audio output is then digital, not just mp3's that you play through a USB port. (Note that this device doesn't support audio formats other than mp3). Now that I have built-in digital ouput, this thing just sits in a box.
