4.0 Great sound, great amp with a catch
I'm a professional mastering engineer with 30 years in the recording business, and before that I was in a band for 10 years. Now my son and I have been to Sam Ash, played every guitar and amp in the store, and this one amazed us both. It's a straight ahead amp - 2 channels (footswitch not included) a meaty sound with enough tube to turn heads. We're looking forward to hearing it in the rehearsal studio and on a gig.

The catch? There's a reason why it's so inexpensive. Being a customizer for years, I knew the speaker wires inside should be replaced with something better. Sure enough, they were tiny. But also, the wood is made out of particle board - not good, since our careful removal of the back revealed that the inside supports that the back screwed into broke off. A trip to Home Depot and we came back and replaced them with 2x2's that we screwed in from the outside - way more solid. If you are not prepared to correct the construction of this cabinet, DON'T open it. Very poor glue-nail technique - note enough nail holding it into the sides of the cab. Over time, this may be a problem, but for around $300, it should last a few years (don't throw this cab out of your van onto the road) - and by then, you'll be ready for something more substantial anyway.

One more note: Don't ever let anyone (sales or otherwise) tell you that 4 out of 4 amps of the same model sound the same. They all sound different. Jim Marshall will tell you that... every piece of gear has it's unique sound, and speakers can be fussy - so try a few out and pick the one that sounds the best. Yes, the sales people will have to be patient. It's ok, they'll live. Be polite, and you will always be a welcomed customer. We're ready to rock - are you? Cheers!
