Product Description
Another fine Cerveny horn. The 681 model is very similar in appearance and performance to the famous Miraphone 186 horn. These horns have a great European sound and plenty of projection due to the larger bore an the resonance of the brass they are made from. These are very colorful horns.Reviews
Great Sounding Tuba - Great PriceI've been playing the Cerveny 681 BBb for about 12 years, including as a tuba performance major in college. The sound is mellow and dark, a classic "German" tuba sound. It's very accessible to play several octaves on the tuba, pedal notes into treble clef.
The horn is light and slightly smaller than comparable brands, which makes it well-suited for smaller tuba players.
The only 'con' (and common problem) is that the thin metal dents incredibly easy. Despite treating my tuba like a baby, it still has a few battle scars.
This tuba is great for all sizes of brass and wind ensembles (3 players or 100+ players). Unless you're playing a lot of orchestral work, which can require brighter and higher CC an F tubas, this is a tuba that will meet all of your needs at a great price.
