- Banjo, 23" Long (keyboard dulcimer)
Product Description
23" long. This is not a Kentucky banjo. The case is integral to the instrument. Metal strings are plucked or strummed with picks while depressing keys to change the notes.Reviews
InformationHello. The banjo-dulcimer you see here may be more properly known as a BulBulTrang (Spelling may be inaccurate) or as a Benju. The BulBulTrang is made in the Middle East and the product information follows this line. It was imported by the Japanese, who called it a Benju, hence Banjo. It usually has ten strings which are all tuned to the same note and usually comes with a pick and key for playing and tuning. I tune mine to a G above middle C, but that's just my choice. It has a keyboard set up in the standard Western style, but chords can't be played. If you took it apart, you'd see that it works rather like a herdy-gerdy, or, if you wish, rather like a non-fretted guitar. The keys press down little metal pieces onto the strings in positions to make notes.
Thanks.
