Product Description
This is a nice size for small hands or children. Also known as a calabash rattle, the shekere is a traditional rattle found throughout West Africa. Since natural gourds are used the length & diameter will vary (the instrument may have a short, long, skinny, or fat handle). Each shekere is unique- the bead colors will vary, and each has a slightly different sound. You can play it many ways: by shaking, twisting, tapping, pulling on the netting, etc. Experiment - you'll get to know yours better the more you play with it! Remember, this shekere is made from natural materials so it will need to be handled with care.
