Product Description

3 main types of wood are used for these djembes, each with unique characteristics: lenque, gueni, and dugara. This means each drum will have its own unique sound. Shea butter is used to protect and enhance the wood finish. The small size of this drum, 10" diameter by 17" tall, is perfect for children. Everything on this djembe is done to perfection - the wooden shells are carved with great precision and craftsmanship, the goat skin heads are hand chosen for each drum, only the best rope is used for the tuning mechanism, the metal rings on the head assembly are measured to fit each drum perfectly, and finally each drum is professionally tuned so it arrives to you ready to play and enjoy for years to come. Complete instructions come with each drum, including information about the production of this drum and directions for care and maintenance. The djembe is the former "long distance phone" of West Africa. Presently the djembe is the most popular African drum played in Europe.
