Good toy for drum enthusiasts who want to learnI love drums and rythim so I decided to learn how to play drums. I decided to buy something not to expensive nor too big so that it would not became a problem if I got disappointed during the learning process. Well, I have this set for one month now and I'm satisfied with it and it had served it purpose which is to initiate myself in the art of drumming. However, I must warn you, it's a toy, do not be fool by it having pedals and all, the product will not give you the real feeling that more professional drum sets can give. I'm already thinking about buying a serious equipment, but it won't be until I finished my basic learning phase
Great after adding a few accessoriesSound isn't that great through the built in speakers, but if you hook it up to more powerfull speakers or a guitar amp it sounds really good. For a more realistic feel, here are some accessories to get:

Great electronic drum set for a very reasonable price. Once you hook it up to a larger speaker it sounds like an authentic drumset.
Great little practice doodler! This is a great little device if you want to take it along somewhere and practice. I wouldnt recomend it as a replacment for an actual drum kit though. If you are really serious about practicing i'd recommend getting the DTXpress III which Yamaha makes as well. It's an excellent replacment for an acoustic kit. Tons of preset and programable drum kits, tracks and voices. Plus it's an actual full sized electronic drum kit so it's like playing an actual kit.
It's ok for practice, but wil NOT substitute for a real drumset.Athough this is kinda cool, this drumset is not great to practice on unless you don't own a drumset, and if you are thinking of buying this instead of a real drumset, DON'T!
The good thing about getting this if you already have a drumset is it comes with some obvious drum enchancers, like 99 different set noises, a headphone jack, a demo for each set, and speakers. It's cool because............. O.K. the drumset isn't all that great anyway, but it's good to take with you on vacation if you have room in your suitcase.
The main problem i had were with the peddles. They are hard to press, and you'll have trouble keeping the high-hat closed. Another thing is the pads are kind off small and you can play off the pad easily if you lose control, which is hard for me if your doing a fill faster that the running of a cat

Recommended AccessoriesThis got cut from my previous review because I forgot to read the posting guidelines and had information about prices and other websites that sell them. Here are the accessories you should get for the DD-55:
1) Standard Bass drum pedal
2) Yamaha KP-65 (Bass drum sensor pad)
3) Yamaha FC4 Sustain Pedal (Replacement for hi-hat pedal)
