Possibly the best drum kit in this price rangeI am simply amazed by this kit. I have never experienced such quality and features at this price point.
What I like most - heavy-duty hardware, factory heads that are so good I didn't feel the need to replace them, pedals that work smoothly, and the best feature, sound.
I own and play on a number of kits ranging from top brands like Tama, Ludwig and Yamaha, to lesser known brands like Groove Percussion. This set beats them hand's down for stock parts, sound out of the box, and construction.
If this is a first kit, I strongly recommend what I consider to be two essentials. First, "Getting Started on Drums Featuring Tommy Igoe" (ASIN B00005UV69), which will lead you through setting up these drums in an optimum fashion as well as getting you immediately started with a few grooves and some invaluable tips that take most of us years to learn. Second, get an Evans Torque Drum Key (ASIN B0002D0HZI), which will help you to tune these to perfection.
Finally, do not scrimp on cymbals. I happen to be a Zildjian fan, but Paiste and Sabian make fantastic cymbals too and you cannot go wrong if you skip over these makers' entry level cymbals (such as the Zildzian Planet Z series) and either invest in an intermediate offering like the Zildjian ZBT series or, better, professional quality cymbals like the Zildjian A or K series. The other top brands have the same tiered offerings.
You cannot find a better deal on a full sized drum kit than this one. It is professional quality at an entry level price.
