Amazing jazz hi-hatIf you play jazz this is the hi-hat to use. I have used 12" and 13" hi-hats in the past, but this 15" is both perfect in size and sound.
The 'chick' projects, but where this pair shines is when you control the open/close with your hand a la Gene Krupa or Louie Belson.
While 13 or 14 inch hats may suffice for rock, I firmly believe that for real jazz - especially big band - 15" is the optimum size, and especially so if you spend a lot of time on the hi-hat when constructing a groove.
I've tried Sabian and Paiste, but always come back to Zildjian for jazz cymbals. This is the perfect hi-hat pair for groovin' jazz with a swing. I am not sure I would recommend it for rock, unless you do a lot of open and partially open hi-hat work.
