This 18" diameter gong has a full, low, fundamental bell-like tone when struck with a soft mallet and is also capable of loud crashing sounds when struck with a harder mallet or rolled on with a pair of soft mallets. Shipped directly from the Wuhan region of China, this gong offers the ultimate in color, power, and overall musicality. This instrument is a smaller version of a standard symphonic-style tam-tam. Used extensively in solo percussion and contemporary ensemble literature, this gong serves in the classroom as a good substitute for the large "boss" gongs of the Balinese gamelan. Includes one mallet.
