Product Description
61-key keyboard version of Poly Evolver synth with a one-button-per-function layout. Controls include 78 knobs, 58 switches, backlit wheels, and blinking LFO and blue sequence LEDs. As in the rack version, each voice has 2 analog and 2 digital oscillators. The analog oscillators offer multiple waveshapes with voltage-controlled analog pulse-width modulation, hard syncing, real voltage-controlled lowpass filters, and VCAs on each channel. The digital oscillators select from 96 Prophet-VS and 32 user-loadable (via MIDI) wavetables and have FM and ring modulators. As with original VS, the digital oscillators get trashy as the frequency gets higher.Other tools and features include a separate glide per oscillator, dual digital 4-pole highpass filters that can be placed before or after the analog electronics, stereo audio inputs, a noise generator, envelope follower and peak detect from the external input for use as a modulation source, 3 snappy ADSRs, and 4 LFOs that are sequencer- and MIDI-syncable.Additional features include dual tunable feedback loops, delay with 3 taps, digital distortion, 3 banks of 128 programs for 384 total, a 16 x 4 analog-style sequencer that syncs with MIDI, and extensive modulation options. Includes a free standalone editor that will run on both a PC and a Mac enabling you to edit both programs and combos quickly and easily.Reviews
Very Nice KeyboardI had an opportunity to play with this thing for about 2 hours at Guitar Center. It sounds great, not like a MOOG but great in it' own way. It has a very deep and thick sound. It's also very flexible. If you can handle the 4-voice limitation (more if you add more units and chain them), then it's good choice at a good price point. The built in analog-style sequencer is great, and the sound that come out of this thing are fantastic. It would take months to if not years to understand the full potential of this thing. It will become a classic, as are all instruments that are built by Dave Smith.... that's for sure.
