Yamaha PSR-170AD 61-Key Portable Electronic Keyboard with AC Adapter

 An OK keyboard
Ok, now I am an intermediate player, so this key board doesn't work for me. If you are a begginer though, then this is an excellent keyboard! I loved it when I first got it, but now it is to small.

 good piano for beginner
arrived in less than a week w/ free shipping, was able to put a $50 certificate towards it so was a steal, never played a piano before, learned to play beethoven's 9th in less than a day, pretty easy to learn, could use better instructions teaching what all the chords are (esp if you are just starting out), takes good time learning w/ the electronic lessons, same volume of sound for whatever strength pressed of key could be annoying once you learn what you are doing, but for 50 bucks less & if you are a beginner that may not make a huge difference, all in all, good piano, i recommend it

I bought this keyboard for the purpose of learning to play the piano. It is a great instrument, lots of fun, and makes learning a pleasure! The value and quality are more than I expected. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase this item again.

 Great for the money
I bought this for my wife because I didn't think she would stick with it. She is having fun with it, and it has a lot of neat extras. Great for beginners, but more advanced music needs will need more.
If you're buying a keyboard for a kid or someone that isn't a professional, this is a great deal.

If you can afford the price(which is very low) buy it.....the should let you buy it from outside the us....a good keyboard!!!

 Just what I needed to learn to play the piano!
What a great keyboard! I am learning to play the piano in my spare time! The built-in lessons really work. I am learning at my own pace. I played back all 100 songs and put a star by the songs I want to learn. There are a lot of great songs built in. By the time I get through all of them I should be able to read music and play the piano very well. I am on the 5th song and it is easier with each new song I learn. I love lesson #2 for the right and left hand. You have to hit the right keys for the keyboard to work and after finishing the song the keyboard tells you how well you did.. either "OK", "Good", "Very Good", or "Excellent!" There are all kinds of voices, styles, songs and the DJ mode that make it fun and entertaining. I haven't learned all of it yet. I also like the fact that the keyboard is very portable so that I can take it places easily. I ordered the keyboard with a stand and AC adapter which are essentials. This keyboard is not touch sensitive which I think makes it easier to learn. The only small complaint is that the song book does not have the words to the songs in it which I have complained to Yamaha about. The PSR-170 is an affordable, versatile, quality product. I would buy it again without hesitation.

 Music Magic
I bought this Yamaha as a gift for our daughter-in-law's birthday. Had to try it out before I took it to her and it sounds as good as my big Yamaha Clavinova. (By the way, I bought the Clavinova in 87 and it's been faultless.) Our duaghter-in-law had been using a small keyboard, was speechless when she saw what we'd brought her! Another thing that amazed me was how quickly it arrived. Thanks for making the givers and the birthday both very happy.

okay this keyboard does not give you the name of the songs your are playing and the eduation suite is [bad] b/c it doesn't teach you how to play your own songs. in fact you can't even learnto play the songs programed ithe computer b/c the keys go so incredibly fast.

Yo, let me just say that this keyboard is off the shelf, hee zee, chain, or whatever. I plugged it in right out the box and was instantly comfortable with this product. If you are new to the music world and want some lessons/foundation, then you will want to buy this one over much of the other keyboards available. It has a great learning program that even the most non-musically inclined individual will be able to benefit from. Also, there are tons of songs stored on the thing that you can learn to play. Good stuff, go buy one.
