Like A HandlebarThe Bowmaster is a great device to teach proper bow grip. I've been taking lessons for two years but still haven't gotten the hang of the bow grip (a skill that you never stop learning). With the bowmaster, I simply place my fingers in the grooves and start playing. There is even a little indentation for the tip of your pinky (very helpful as I never knew exactly where to place it). I instantly became more comfortable and less tense when playing and removed the grip after two weeks. I may need to use it again in the future, but its easy installation will make that a cinch. To install: remove the screw from the end of the bow, slide out the frog (do this with the bow lying on a table to prevent the hair from getting messed up), slide on the bowmaster, and put everything back together. I thought I'd have to have a pro install it, but it was very easy to do myself. The ONLY drawback is that it makes the bow "fatter" at the grip point and may seem awkward at first. I highly recommend this to all beginner and intermediate violinists who want to ensure a proper right hand position.
