Big sound in a small boxI wanted an amp for home practice and, of course, Laney makes top quality gear. Being a big Tony Iommi fan, I tried one out at a store and was blown away by the sound and the versatility of this little amp. Laney's hardcore series feature built in distorion which you can tweak to your liking but it is a really good distortion - doesn't give you that fake fuzz box sound. And even though it only has an 8 inch speaker in the HCM15, I use it at home and for low level jams with friends ( I have a Laney Tony Iommi signature head and 4X12 for the big occassions ). If you need something both to really jam out with and for practice at home, you may want to look at the HCM 65 version with 12" speaker... more pricey but it will give you more power and flexibility.
The amp itself and the control knobs all have a high quality, sturdy feel to them - you can tell the amp is top shelf. Bottom line is Laney makes great stuff and if your looking for a small amp with a big quality sound, this is a great one.
