Great rock heads with bonusThis head pack is a true value because unlike other packs that include heads for the snare and toms, this one includes a bass drum head as well.
What is especially nice, though, is the video that comes with it in which Terry Bozzio gives tuning tips that will show you how to get the most out of this pack (or any other heads). If you are a Bozzio fan you will gain insights into how he achieves his sound. If not, you will still learn much about tuning drums, which is the bonus part of this package. As an aside I recommend getting either the Rhythm Tech Memo Key (ASIN B0002E2EOE)or Evans Torque Drum Key (ASIN B0002D0HZI) to further aid your tuning efforts.
The heads are loud and perfectly suited for rock. They have rounded collars that give a consistent sound while slightly reducing ring and overtone. You get the following heads with this kit (all batter-side): 14" coated snare head, 3 clear tom heads (12", 13", 16"), and a 22" bass drum head designed to muffle overtones.
If you have a new drum kit and want to configure and tune it for rock this pack is an ideal and inexpensive way to accomplish that. You'll learn a lot about tuning in the process.
