a little too loudworks great, just annoyingly loud for use with a keyboard. We covered the speaker with duck tape - fixed it.
Great ValueThis metronome works like a dream. It is compact enough to be carried anywhere, yet makes a sound that can be heard clearly over any volume of instrument. The turn-wheel makes it easy to select your desired tempo, and two different clicking noises are available, as well as a silent blinking light. The stand on the back and tuning A and Bb notes make this metronome very handy to have around. Its only downfall lies in the tempo settings - the tempo can only be set to one of the pre-marked numbers around the wheel (which tend to add in increments of four). If you're looking for a tempo in between two settings, you're out of luck.
Despite this, I feel this metronome is a great deal for the price, and I would recommend it to anyone.
Significantly adds to drum practiceI don't practice without this amazingly compact and useful timekeeper. The beat range is wide - from 40 to 240 beats per minute in 4 beat increments, and the headphone jack is a nice bonus.
What I especially like is the audio and visual modes - you can go by the clicks or a red light that blinks in time. At faster tempos, though, the light is harder to follow than the click. You can select both the click and light together, which is another great feature. Finally, you can quickly dial in your tempo, which is an improvement over many metronones that require you to use a button to increase or decrease beats - going from 126 beats per minute to 240 takes a second versus having to keep pressing a button on competing metronomes.
It's loud enough to be heard over my drum kit when I have it close, and the timing is dead on accurate.
The tuning to standard A or Bb is yet another feature that drummers will find useful with doing an initial reference tuning. It allows you to quickly get a reference tone on one drum, then tune your kit from there.
Since counting is essential to good practice using this instead of depending on verbal counting when playing is a big help and has enabled me to measurable improve my grooves (I still count off in my head when playing, but now I know that I am perfectly accurate).
Highly recommended!
works wonderful! This metronome has been working perfectly since i got it about 2 years ago. The turning knob makes it easy to turn to the perfect speed. It has an additional concert Bflat and A note built in so you can kind-of tune to it. A nice little stand deal is on the back, and its small compact size make it wonderful to take with you to band practice or lessons. It also has two different tones that you can set it to, or, if you like, you can just have a niftly little light blink the tempo. I highly recomend this metronome.
