(o^-^)==O}}}} N-A-N-O {{{{C==(^-^c)Interesting...I love this thing. It kinda fit with my lifestyle. I have one MD player and it's kinda too big for me so i think my next MD or MP3 player should be sth small.I was gonna buy MINI but when i went back to apple weasite again i saw a new little creature NANO and i fell in love with it :). 1000 songs are kinda a lot for me. If i would like to listen over tnan that, i'd rather stay at home with my stero :)
- fragile : i guess so... smaller things always more fragile than biger things:). I'm a dog lover as i know smaller dogs also more fragile than bigger dogs ..Same as Ipod :). when we accept to deal with it (Adopt a small dog or buy a Nano) just carefully use it i think it wouldn't be a problem :). A golden rule for using any electronic devices
"DON'T DROP IT, IT'S TOO FRAGILE TO BE DROPPED" :)
- Scratch so easy: i'm kinda think it depends on each individual. So how easy of scratching is depends on how careful the user is , as well.
Relax & Enjoy the innovation
Have fun....Love dog & Peace (^_^)V
1000 songs... the size of a pack of Trident. Awesome!!Nano is incredible. I love it in so many ways. I soooooo don't miss carrying around over 100 cd's in my car. The best thing about ipods in general is that you can shuffle your library, albums, or playlists. This way you don't have to "commit" to one cd when you get it out to play. It's like having a new mix of all your favorite music all the time. In regard to it's durability... I say it is TOUGH. The reason is there are no moving parts in it, unlike the other or older ipods which do. They do scratch so silicon skin is a good idea (although I find them ugly) so what I did instead was cut out a protective screen cover designed for palm pilots and put in on. I've had friends tell me "ipods are overrated." I say to them, until you have you, you can't say it. ipods rule!
4Gb iPod Nano should really be priced at $150My review is based on the use of a borrowed iPod Nano--I tried it out and eventually decided not to buy it.
There are many different sets of requirements that people have for MP3 players, with a few that I consider as essential factors. When considering them, I find that the iPod Nano falls a bit short. Because there are many reviews exclaiming what's great about the iPod Nano (which may or may not be balanced, overweighted by the coolness factor), here are a few basic drawbacks to keep in mind:
#1: Durability - the materials used in this device are inferior to many other MP3 players, even the hard drive based iPods. The exterior skin of the iPod Nano scratches VERY easily. This would have been easily avoided using other materials that are readily available, even if it increased the weight a little. Drop the iPod on the floor and goodbye screen! [Thankfully I didn't drop it--the owner did and got it repaired]. It should be more durable and securely mounted.
#2: Form factor - smaller is better, but to only a degree. Yes, the microscopic size of the iPod Nano is an incredible manufacturing achievement, but to what end? Did the general public really want something THIS SMALL? It's easy to drop, it's so small--did Apple forget about the many large handed people in this world? The super light weight of the Nano makes it feel less substantial than expected. If Apple used more durable materials, I think the weight would have been JUST RIGHT. iPod people are always advertised as active and physically fit people, so a little extra weight shouldn't be an issue.
#3: Cost - Comparatively speaking, $249 for a 4Gb MP3 player is STEEP, considering the quality of the materials and the sparse included accessories. So, when you go out and buy a protective case and other necessary items, like a USB POWER ADAPTER so you can charge the iPod when not connected to a computer (yep, can you believe they don't give you this?), a DOCK (they give you the CABLE only!), and upgraded headphones (if you find the earbuds annoying). When you add it all up, you've paid nearly $400 (the cost of the iPod 60Gb Photo/Video).
#4: Sound quality - Overall, it's OK depending on your environment. I find that the iPod Nano just doesn't drive the headphones/earbuds as well as other MP3 players. Perhaps it is due to the sacrifices of the circuitry to attain that incredibly small size. But you should definitely listen to an iPod Nano AND another MP3 player shortly thereafter to do your own comparative listening and judge for yourself. In the world of sound, there are two important things: speakers and amplification. I don't know if that means that replacing just the default earbuds will help--certainly it's worth a try.
My own personal grudges are the tiny 1.5" screen (at least 2" should have been possible), tiny storage for what you get (an 8Gb chip would easily fit inside), and lack of built-in features like FM receiver and direct memory card file transfers.
It's important to set aside the Nano "coolness" factor and really look at this device for what it should deliver on FOR THE PRICE. If your main purpose for buying the iPod Nano is to hear music during workouts, and you don't need a large library of music with you when traveling, then this product may appeal to you. However, if you are ok with the standard iPod size, I recommend going with a full size iPod or a Nomad Zen.
I must say that I really like the simple and very user friendly design that Apple has achieved. I *want* to love the iPod Nano. I really do. I just can't, in good conscience, take the plunge into something that is "riding the coat tails" of iPod brand success. If Apple improves the materials quality, screen size, doubles the storage capacity, and includes better earbuds, then I'd be willing to pay $249 for an 8Gb Nano.
a "fascinating" deviceThis small, portable music player is quite fascinating. It is composed of a synthetic byproduct of petroleum, known by most as plastic. The "plastic" this device is constructed from appears to be of the highest quality, however, when closely observed, I found it to be softer than desired, thus, it scratches easily. It plays music that is downloaded to it via a computer, either Macintosh or PC. This may be a deterrent to those of you who do not own a computer. When playing the music, it uses small phonic devices inserted into the ears. These are called "headphones". Due to the nature of these "headphones," dogs cannot listen to your music.
When listening to the music, I found it to be of satisfactory quality. This device is quite small which is its primary selling point. If you buy this device, you should be sure to have music to download to it, otherwise, there will be nothing to listen to. The music that I recomend is Wagner, Tchaikovsky, and Bach. I find this music to be of superior quality, and worthy of listening to.

a few flawsI have a white Ipod nano and I love it with all my heart. Its a great device with a sexy and sleek design, but it has a few flaws.
PROS:
-The only full color IPod that allows you to put album art next to the songs
-Easy to carry, pocket size, very handy
-Includes a clock, heh no more watches.
CONS:
-Very fragile, you have to take care of it and be careful not to drop it on a hard surface
-Only holds 500 songs, the GB should allow us to put 1000 songs on it like the mini's and regular Ipods.
-The battery life sucks! it only lasts 4 hours. Being the big music lover that I am, I use my nano all the time and I have to charge it every day.
-Scratches easily.
I still think nano's are great, but I think apple should fix these cons to make the nano's better.
A Gadget 2 Good 2 be True...MUST HAVE!The Ipod Nano is a dream come true for people who appreciate new technology and enjoy listening to unlimited music along with interactive photo features without limitations.

It's only been 3 days since I have bought the Ipod Nano 4gb in black and believe me when I first bought it, I was extremely impressed by it's very sleek and small packaging, which says a lot about any product in this day and age. When I opened it I was even more shocked and surprised like most people, of how small and slim the Ipod Nano was. It was unbelievable and I was thrilled to own such a smart item with excellent functions and performance.
I did my research before buying this product and a lot of people said that it is easily scratched but it still didn't put me off from buying it because I wanted to buy it ages ago but due to high demand, it was always out of stock when I wanted it. Therefore, when I bought it, I also purchased a rubber protective sleeve to prevent any scratches. I put the sleeve on right away on top of the cellophine protector on the front of the Ipod to ensure that it stays good as new, at least for 6 months...Lol
I have never bought or used an Apple product and this was my 1st and I found that the Ipod Nano is very user friendly because it only took someone like me 5mins to install the software provided and transfer my music collection immediately, thanks to the simple instruction guide sheet. All products should be like this SHORT, SIMPLE & PRECISE when it comes to User Guides!
Previously, I have been using the 256mb Creative mp3 player, which only held around 40 odd tracks so I purchased the ARCHOS media player a few months ago for £315, because I have always wanted to store my favorite CD collection and playlists on to one single device. But although it had all the capabilities of storing music, photos and video recordings, I found that I never seem to use it often because even though its meant to be a pocket video recorder, it still feels too BIG to carry around everywhere, especially for listening to music! There are far too many bundles of wires in the process of recording and transferring music, videos and photos with the Archos. I have hardly used it and I am hoping to sell it soon because I am extremely happy and satisfied with the Ipod Nano because I have now stored my favorite CD collection and Playlists in one sleek and small device, which I can now take with me wherever I want. This just shows that the quality of a product doesn't always mean it's good if you pay a high price!!!!
Although I prefer transferring my music through DRAG & DROP, I don't really think the iTunes software with the Ipod Nano is bad at all compared to what people have said about it. I think it is very easy to organize your music collection in a few simple steps and I think it is very creative for people who want to arrange their music to their own requirements. But it would have been nice if Apple had also enabled the DRAG & DROP feature for music...!
Overall, I don't normally write reviews online but the Ipod Nano has made me very happy and I thought it deserved a review because it is one of those items that tempt you to tell the world about it. It has got several features which can keep you occupied whenever you're bored!!!! I can't imagine anyone buying this product and regretting it, it is truly the NO.1 GIFT of the year and future, especially at a reasonable price of £179.00! You definitely can't go wrong for what you're getting in return....!!!!
I SIMPLY LOVE IT....!
A great leap forwardWithout a doubt, iPod Nano is a big improvement from iPod Mini. I sold my Mini the day Nano came out. Here are my bullet point cons and pros
Obvious Pros (that everyone already knows)
* Much smaller
* Color screen. The screen is very bright and much more pleasurable to navigate around compared to Mini.
Not So Obvious Pros
* Robust. Because Nano uses flash memory as opposed to hard drives in regular iPod or Mini, Nano is immune to shock. I dropped it from my shoulder height while playing, and the music played as usual. And there is nothing wrong afterward
* Transfer speed. Again, because of the flash memory, Nano is able to transfer files 1.5x faster than Mini
Cons
* Very vulnerable to scratch (especially the black version). I keep the protective plastic at the front, plus a self-made paper wrap to protect it.
* Expensive accessories. Speaking of protective wrap, the currently available ones are way overpriced. That is why it led me to make one from paper myself.
* Incompatible accessories with Mini. Because of the removal of the extra hole near the head phone plug, many Mini accessories are incompatible with Nano. One noticeable one is Griffin iTrip (the FM transmitter). I guess accessory manufacturers will come up with more Nano accessories over time.
* Slightly shorter battery life than Mini. 14 hours v.s. 18 hours (official numbers). However, I have no problem with that 4 hours difference.
I like it a lot, but I have to give it a 4 stars for all the cons. I suggest you buy the 4 GB version instead of the 2 GB. For extra $50 you get twice as much the space. And if you plan to bring it when you travel, and you don't have/want to bring your laptop, then you better buy an AC converter for recharging, as it is not included in the box.
A pack of gum with musicI was getting behind the times with my Cd player and
small Rio.
Everyone was on the Ipod kick and I wanted nothing of the big white box's.
When i saw the Nano I new it was for me. It took all my songs right away and the sound is the best I've heard with just the head phones that come with it.
It has all the photo and music functionality of the big units but a 4 gig space limit. For me that's not a problem.
I'd recommend it for anyone with a shirt pocket and a need to not hear everyone around them.
A very worthy successor to the excellent iPod miniThe iPod mini is the biggest seller of all the iPods. Why, then, is Apple discontinuing the mini? Because they have something better: the new Ipod Nano.
The Nano is less than half the size and weight of an iPod mini. A nano weighs only 1.5 ounces! (The mini weighs about 4 ounces.) Yet, the Nano has a gorgeous color screen (the mini's screen was b/w) which allows you to view your photos, or view the album cover art of whatever song is currently playing.
You really have to see and touch and play with one of these things to appreciate how sweet they are. I'm guessing that once you do, you'll be hooked like I was.
Amazingly, Apple has packed all the functionality of the larger iPods into the tiny Nano: Same menu structure, the ability to organize your music by artist or genre or album, the ability to create playlists on your computer or on the device itself, the ability to download and play podcasts, etc.
Like the iPod shuffle, the Nano stores your music in flash memory instead of on a hard drive. Flash memory is better, because there are no moving parts to break. This is especially important if you want an MP3 player for the gym or jogging. Unfortunately, flash memory is also more expensive per GB, but the 4GB Nano lists for only $50 more than the 4GB iPod mini, and is no more expensive than other companies' 2GB flash MP3 players.
The battery life is only about 15 hours, slightly less than the iPod mini, slightly more than the iPod shuffle, and a few hours less than the typical flash memory MP3 player. But the typical flash MP3 player does not have a big, bright color display.
I especially recommend the Nano as a second player for someone that already owns a larger iPod (and therefore already has a substantial library of music in iPod-friendly format). The Nano of course does not have nearly the capacity to hold your entire music collection - you need a "big" iPod for that. But for use at the gym, or on trips, it's much nicer taking the diminutive Nano than the "big" iPod.
Minor negatives: The player is more easily scratched and shows fingerprints more than the iPod mini. Also, your color choices are white and black, vs. 4 color choices for the mini. But you can kill two birds with one stone by purchasing a "skin" in whatever color you like.
If price is more important to you than size, weight, or color display, then consider buying a 4GB or even 6GB iPod mini instead. The mini is still an excellent player, and now that it's being discontinued, you should be able to find great deals.
Absolutely Astonishing!!!If you think the pictures and T.V. ads for this look impressive, wait until you actually get your hands on it. I got a nano just a couple of days ago after giving my old 15 gig iPod (the one with the row of 4 buttons above the scroll wheel) to my dad. This iPod is so incrediblely small and light weight. The screen is very bright and vibrant and pics look great on it. The sound quality is excellent as with all other iPods, and all of the great features, plus a couple new ones (stopwatch, world clock, screen lock), are here. The click wheel, although a little smaller than the ones on other iPods, is very accessable and easy to use. At 4 gb, you will probabally be able to get just over 1,000 songs on it, which is a very good ammount for the average person. All in all, this iPod is great and definitely has a "Wow Factor" that will facinate you when you see it.
Pros:
*Amazingly Small and Lightweight
*Great Sound Quality
*Great Features That iPod's are Known For
*Nice, Bright Color Screen
Cons:
-Will not work with all older iPod accessories
